Since their adoption by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in 1937, aircraft have played an increasingly important role in law enforcement in Canada. This Beechcraft D18S was one of two purchased in 1946 to replace the original four De Havilland Dragonflies, which were turned over to the armed forces at the outbreak of WWII. With registration CF-MPH, this aircraft logged more than two million miles transporting prisoners, supplies and personnel to and from isolated northern detachments, carrying out emergency flights and otherwise providing valuable assistance. She was retired in 1970, and now “flies” on a stand at the RCMP Training Depot at Regina, Saskatchewan.
