The Australian Aviation Museum – HARS (Historic Aircraft Restoration Society) is based at Shellharbour Airport in Albion Park Rail, NSW. A satellite museum is based at Parkes, NSW.
HARS was formed in 1979 by a group of aviation enthusiasts interested in the preservation of Australian Aviation History. Its mission is “To recover and where possible restore to flying condition, aircraft or types of aircraft that have played a significant part in Australian Aviation History both in the Civil and Military arenas.”
In 2017, actor John Travolta donated his Boeing 707-138B (a former Qantas aircraft) to HARS. During 2025 and early 2026 the aircraft was dismantled, with the wings and fuselage currently en-route to Australia by sea, whilst most other components including engines have already arrived in Australia. The aircraft will be re-assembled at Shellharbour Airport later in 2026 and will remain a static exhibit.
The Museum is also the home of the Australian Aviation Hall of Fame and open to the public during museum hours.
