Recognized as an Important Aviation Heritage site in Japan, the Aviation Science and Technology Exhibition Hall offers visitors the opportunity to experience the evolution of flight technology firsthand. Through its displays of post-war domestic aircraft, satellite models, and educational demonstrations, the hall serves as both a cultural archive and an inspiring learning space.

After the Second World War, flying in Japanese airspace was prohibited for seven years. When the ban was lifted in 1952 (Showa 27), helicopters were quickly imported. A glance at the Ministry of Transport’s registration book shows that the JA7001 – the first civil helicopter registered in Japan – was a Sikorsky R-6A belonging to Sankei Shimbun, dated 31 October 1952.
