The P-16 was built in the fifties. It was intended to have the ability to operate even from soft fields. Although one of the prototypes had crashed, the Swiss Army ordered 100 aircraft in 1958. After the first pre-production aircraft had crashed due to hydraulic problems, the contract was canceled and Swiss government ordered Hawker Hunter instead. Some design and construction elements (look at the wings) of the P-16 were taken over by Bill Lear for his Lear Jet.
