Curtiss Kittyhawk IV FX760/GA-? 112 Sqn. RAF
This Kittyhawk was assembled from original parts of several wrecks recovered from New Guinea jungles and some specially fabricated new parts. Fuselage was used from P-40N-15CU, serial 42-106101, later RAAF serial A29-556. Restoration at Chino was completed in 1992 and in May arrived by sea to England. Aircraft is painted as No 112 Squadron Kittyhawk FX760, code GA-?, which operated in Italy. In June 1944 was transferred to No 3 Squadron RAAF and on 21 August 1944 was shot down by AA fire near Pesaro during dive attack, killed W/O Halpin onboard. | Rob Vogelaar
