Lockheed 414 Hudson IIIA A16-199/SF-R 13 Sqn. Royal Australian Air Force.
Built at Lockheed company, Burbank, California with serial 41-36975, ordered for RAF as FH174, but prior to delivery diverted to RAAF. Since June 1942 assigned to No. 13 Sqn RAAF as A16-199 and participated in Australia-South West Pacific combat theatre. On 3rd February 1943 shot down F1M2 “Pete” floatplane, in April transferred to No. 2 Sqn and on 11th May claimed Ki-21 “Sally” bomber. After combat service operated in 1944 by the 3 CU and 2 AD, in 1947 sold to Macquarie Grove Flying School. Since December 1950 changed several civil users, worn registrations VH-SMM and VH-AGJ. Since 1981 displayed at the RAF Museum Hendon in No. 13 Sqn RAAF colours. | Rob Vogelaar
